Gulf CV format: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman
Employers across the Gulf read thousands of CVs from many countries, so they look for the same few facts quickly: where you are, whether you can join, and what you have delivered.
What Gulf recruiters expect
- A clean A4 CV in English, usually two to three pages for experienced candidates and one to two for graduates.
- A professional photo is common for local employers and recruitment agencies. Leave it out when a multinational's careers portal asks you not to add one.
- A short personal-details block: nationality, current location, visa or residence status (for example "UAE residence visa, transferable"), notice period and languages. Date of birth and marital status are optional; add them only if the advert asks.
- A driving licence line is useful for field, sales and operations roles, where many adverts require a valid local licence.
Recommended section order
- Name, job title and contact details (mobile with country code, email, LinkedIn).
- Personal details block, as above.
- Professional summary of three to four lines that names your field, years of experience and the region you have worked in.
- Work experience, newest first, with quantified results (budgets, headcount, revenue, project value).
- Education, then certifications such as PMP, CIPS, NEBOSH or local engineering registrations.
- Skills and languages. Arabic and English levels are worth stating plainly.
Common mistakes
- Leaving out visa status or notice period, which recruiters often need before they call.
- Using a heavily designed two-column layout for a role that is screened by an applicant tracking system. Our ATS templates keep a single reading order.
- Sending a scanned or image-only PDF. Every PDF from Best Resume Studio contains real, selectable text.

Frequently asked questions
Should I put a photo on a CV for Dubai or Saudi Arabia?
It is common and usually welcome for local employers and agencies. If an employer's portal or advert says not to include one, follow that instruction. Photos are always optional in our builder.
How long should a Gulf CV be?
Two to three A4 pages is normal for experienced professionals. Graduates and early-career candidates should aim for one to two pages.
Do I need to include my nationality and visa status?
Most Gulf recruiters expect them because they affect hiring timelines and costs. State them briefly in the personal-details block.
