India CV format: what Indian recruiters look for
Recruiters in India often screen large volumes through job portals, so a CV that states your role, skills and measurable results in the first half page does best.
What recruiters in India and South Asia expect
- A4 paper, one page for freshers and up to two or three pages for experienced candidates.
- A photo is optional. Add personal details such as date of birth only if the employer asks.
- A clear skills section and, for freshers, academic projects and internships with results.
- Current and expected notice period are often asked for; you can add notice period to the contact block.
Recommended section order
- Name, phone, email, city and LinkedIn.
- Profile summary.
- Technical or functional skills.
- Work experience or internships, newest first.
- Projects (very important for freshers and technology roles).
- Education with degree, institution and year; certifications.
Common mistakes
- Long "objective" statements that do not mention the role.
- Including father's name, religion or full address, which are rarely needed today.
- Listing every technology ever used instead of the ones the job asks for.
